A second round of seed funding is open to early-career Pacific researchers, supporting projects that are grounded in Pacific communities and led from within them.
The Tupaia Grants return this month for a second round, following a first cohort that carried Pacific-led research into villages, classrooms and coastal waters across the region.
The grants back early-career researchers with seed funding, mentoring and a peer network that stays with each project from first idea to final report. The promise behind Round 2 is the same one that started the programme: questions that come from Pacific communities deserve Pacific researchers with the means to answer them.

What is new in Round 2
Eligibility now reaches every early-career researcher based in the region, applications are welcome in English and in Pacific languages, and every grantee is paired with a mentor from day one rather than at the midpoint.
How to apply
Applications close 29 August 2026. Expressions of interest go to the Programme Coordinator, and shortlisted projects will be announced in October. Round 1 grantees will share their findings at the Pacific Futures Congress later this year, and we will publish their stories here as they land.
