Mentoring Programme 2026-2028
Do you need help or guidance with your research career? Or want to give back and support an emerging, early or mid-career Pacific researcher?
The Pacific Futures Mentoring Programme connects emerging Pacific researchers with experienced Pacific Academy of Sciences (PAS) Fellows and Members to exchange knowledge, experiences, cultural insight and professional guidance.
Mentees - Receive support, encouragement and constructive feedback from a trusted sounding board for exploring ideas, navigating challenges and expanding networks
Mentors - Contribute to the development of our emerging Pacific researchers and enhance your leadership, mentoring and communication skills
Programme cycle - 12 months duration, with 8 months (February-September) of mentorship

Tupaia Research Grants
Supporting Indigenous Pacific Early Career Researchers to advance innovative research that addresses Pacific priorities and delivers meaningful benefits to communities across the region.
The Tupaia Research Grants are named in honour of Tupaia, the renowned navigator and translator of Ra’iātea. Funded through the generous support of New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the grants provide funding for Pacific-led research aligned with the Academy’s priority research areas.
Indigenous Pacific Early Career Researchers residing in Pacific Island countries
Up to NZD $50,000 available for projects of up to 12 months
Research must align with one or more PAS priority research areas
